Fast Draft

Fast Draft

I’m taking Candace Haven’s fast draft and revision hell classes this month. The point of the class is to learn to turn your internal editor off and just write. The goal is to write 5k or 20pgs a day. I started on Monday and have written 44 pages since then. I’m loving the feeling of letting yourself just write and not caring if it is perfect or if it is complete crap. I feel like the story is moving better than it ever has and that I’m getting to know my characters more. I’ll post another update on Friday when I hope to have 100 pages finished!!

I love going to the movies.

This morning my husband and I went to the movies while the kids were at school. We had planned to go last Friday, but youngest was sick so we couldn’t go. Today we saw the Avengers and it was so, so good. We have a hard time finding movies that we will both enjoy (we have completely different tastes in almost everything), but we both really liked this movie. There were several laugh out loud moments and tons of action.

There are only a few more weeks of school, so I plan on going to the movies while I can. Next up, Friday I will be seeing Dark Shadows!!

I love birthdays…especially mine!

I will turn 32 on Wednesday. I plan to send the day doing a lot of nothing – mani/pedi and lunch with my husband, taking daughter for dance pictures, and going to bed early to read uninterrupted.

The kids will make a big deal about the day and give me the presents they have been making for the last week or two. I love the homemade gifts and treats they make me. I always get book store gift cards for my birthday, so I will be shopping for some new reads on Thursday!

Progress

Progress

I’m slowly making some progress on the new book. I started the beginning over and over till I got it just right, but now that I’m happy with it the rest is coming along quickly. I’m hoping to get at least the first half of the book finished before the kids get out of school in May.

I love the mornings I get to sleep in. It’s rare that I don’t have to get up with the kids and do the whole breakfast and getting dressed routine. My husband works till 2 and 3am most nights, so he’s too tired to get up with them.

However, one day a week they don’t wake me up. Sure, I usually wake up on my own and listen to whats happening in the front of the house, but no one bothers me. I don’t have to mediate, tie shoes, or remind the kids to grab their lunches. I love these mornings.

What I’m Reading…

What I’m Reading…

I was very lucky to get an advanced copy of THE LAST BOYFRIEND by Nora Roberts. I started it last night and I’m really enjoying it.

About the book:

Owen is the organizer of the Montgomery clan, running the family’s construction business with an iron fist – and an even less flexible spreadsheet. And though his brothers bust on his compulsive list-making, the Inn BoonsBoro is about to open right on schedule. The only thing Owen didn’t plan for was Avery McTavish…

Avery’s popular pizza place is right across the street from the inn, giving her a first-hand look at its amazing renovation – and a newfound appreciation for Owen. Since he was her first boyfriend when they were kids, Owen has never been far from Avery’s thoughts. But the attraction she’s feeling for him now is far from innocent.

As Avery and Owen cautiously take their relationship to another level, the opening of the inn gives the whole town of Boonsboro a reason to celebrate. But Owen’s hard work has only begun. Getting Avery to let down her guard is going to take longer than he expected – and so will getting her to realize that her first boyfriend is going to be her last…

I love Easter.

The kids had a blast finding eggs and opening their Easter gifts.

I loved the time spent with family.

We had a great Easter this year, except for one thing – my husband had to work. He’s a manager at a local restaurant and they don’t close on Easter Sunday. So we went to our family gathering without him. All three kids got hurt playing outside and I had to spend cuddling with them. It was a hectic day, but also fun. I loved spending a day where I didn’t have to worry about what chores needed to be done and could focus just on the kids and family.
